For some reason, every other major shopping cart solution had custom themes and templates available on the net, ready for use, but not Big Cartel. At the same time, many of these shop owners wanted to stick to using Big Cartel for it’s combination of an easy-to-use management system and great features at an affordable cost. So if shop owners wanted their shop to have a customized, professional look to it, their only option was to hire a Big Cartel site designer.

As Big Cartel site designers ourselves, a problem that we saw was that a lot of people couldn’t afford to hire a designer to create a custom Big Cartel shop design from scratch. Since most Big Cartel shop owners are start up brands, or working on a tight budget, having their shop customized by a designer seemed almost out of reach–that is if they wanted a quality shop design.

So on May 2010, to solve this dilemma, we decided to create Theme Fiend; the premier site for Big Cartel themes. Our goal is to see every Big Cartel shop out there with an extraordinary shop design that matches their brand, whether the shop is selling t-shirts, jewelery, music, books, toys, or artwork.
